Same Principle. Different Muscles.
A bodybuilder doesn't just "work out." They target the chest on Monday, back on Tuesday, legs on Wednesday. Each muscle group gets isolated attention, specific exercises, progressive intensity. VRN lets you do exactly the same thing with your voice.
In the Gym
- Chest press โ 3ร12
- Incline fly โ 3ร10
- Cable crossover โ 3ร15
- Progressive overload
- Training log tracks sets
In the Voice
- [C++] Chest resonance drills
- [H++] Head placement scales
- [N+] Mask buzzing exercises
- Progressive intensity (+, ++, +++)
- VRN score tracks resonance
The 6 Vocal Muscle Groups
Just like your body, your voice has distinct zones you can isolate and train. Here's the split.
Low "MAH" descending scales. Speak "HUH" at increasing volume. Place hand on sternum โ feel the buzz increase from [C+] to [C++] to [C+++].
High humming on "MMMMM." Ascending "NEE-NEE-NEE" scales. Touch forehead while singing โ feel the buzz increase with pitch.
"MING-MING-MING" at medium pitch. Pinch nose, release on M, feel the buzz. "NYAH" scales focusing on cheekbone vibration.
Sustain "AH" and slowly morph to "OO" then "EE" โ feel the space change. Open jaw wide, lift soft palate (pre-yawn position), sustain tone.
Yawn and sustain "AH" at the peak of openness. "KAH" scales keeping the back of the throat wide. Imagine swallowing a golf ball โ that's the space you want.
Lowest possible "BUHM" with hands on lower belly. Deep diaphragmatic breathing with vocalized exhale. Sustain lowest comfortable note and feel the torso vibrate.

The Mind-Muscle Connection
Bodybuilders talk about it constantly โ consciously directing attention to the target muscle during a lift to maximize activation. Singers do the identical thing with resonance placement.
"Put it in the mask" is literally mind-muscle connection for the face. "Sing from the diaphragm" is mind-muscle connection for the core. Every great singer uses this instinctively.
The difference? Bodybuilders have a language for it. Singers didn't. Until VRN.
Every set, every rep, every target zone โ documented, repeatable, progressive. No more guessing what your teacher meant. No more forgetting what worked last session. Your voice gets the same systematic attention your body gets.

Learn the 6 resonance zones. Start isolating them. Build your voice the same way you'd build your body โ one targeted session at a time.
