The vibration in your sternum and ribcage. This is your foundation, your bench press. Everything else builds on top of a solid chest resonance. Low notes live here. Power comes from here.
Exercises:

Low "MAH" descending scales. Speak "HUH" at increasing volume. Place hand on sternum โ€” feel the buzz increase from [C+] to [C++] to [C+++].

Head Resonance
Gym equivalent: Shoulders & traps โ€” the frame that projects
The vibration in your skull, forehead, and crown. This gives your voice brilliance, carrying power, and the "ring" that opera singers use to project over an orchestra without a microphone.
Exercises:

High humming on "MMMMM." Ascending "NEE-NEE-NEE" scales. Touch forehead while singing โ€” feel the buzz increase with pitch.

Nasal / Mask Resonance
Gym equivalent: Core โ€” the connector that makes everything work together
The vibration in the bridge of your nose, cheekbones, and "mask" area. This is the resonance that bridges chest and head. Without it, your registers don't blend. It's the core of your voice.
Exercises:

"MING-MING-MING" at medium pitch. Pinch nose, release on M, feel the buzz. "NYAH" scales focusing on cheekbone vibration.

Oral / Overtone Resonance
Gym equivalent: Arms โ€” the visible, shapeable muscles
The amplification in your mouth cavity โ€” tongue position, palate height, lip shape. This is where vowels get their identity and overtones bloom. It's the most consciously controllable zone.
Exercises:

Sustain "AH" and slowly morph to "OO" then "EE" โ€” feel the space change. Open jaw wide, lift soft palate (pre-yawn position), sustain tone.

Pharyngeal Resonance
Gym equivalent: Back โ€” the deep muscle group nobody sees but everyone needs
The open throat โ€” the pharyngeal tube at the back. Italian gola aperta. This adds depth, warmth, and the carrying power that separates trained from untrained voices. Most people never train this directly.
Exercises:

Yawn and sustain "AH" at the peak of openness. "KAH" scales keeping the back of the throat wide. Imagine swallowing a golf ball โ€” that's the space you want.

Low Body Resonance
Gym equivalent: Legs โ€” the foundation everyone skips
The vibration in your abdomen, lower back, and pelvic floor. This is your grounding, your anchor. Bass singers depend on it. Everyone else ignores it. Don't skip leg day โ€” don't skip low body resonance.
Exercises:

Lowest possible "BUHM" with hands on lower belly. Deep diaphragmatic breathing with vocalized exhale. Sustain lowest comfortable note and feel the torso vibrate.
